Exploration & Production is responsible for DONG Energy’s exploration and production of oil and natural gas. Exploration & Production has considerable competencies, experience and specialist knowledge within exploration and production of oil and natural gas, and within the development of existing and new
fields.
Today our portfolio comprises approx. 70 exploration and production licenses, such as the Siri area and Syd-Arne in the Danish part of the North Sea, and our largest producing field Ormen Lange located on the Norwegian Shelf. Moreover, our licenses in Norway comprise Ula, Gyda, Tamber and Alve in the
Norwegian part of the North Sea, as well as exploration licenses in the Barents Sea. In addition, we are the largest licence holder in the West of Shetland region and we are active exploring in the waters outside the Faroe Islands and off Greenland.
Exploration & Production has a stake of Gassled that
includes the world’s largest offshore natural gas pipeline system. The system leads natural gas from the Norwegian fields to northern Europe and Great Britain, and thus gives us access to an important infrastructure
Generation is responsible for DONG Energy’s production of heat and power. The production takes place at a number of thermal power stations in Denmark and is also generated by renewable energy sources primarily in Denmark, in Great Britain, Sweden and Poland. Generation is one of the world’s most experienced companies within the design, construction and operation of offshore wind farms.
In 2009 we opened the world’s largest offshore wind farm to date, Horns Rev 2, and more large wind farms are in the pipeline. By focusing on the technological development, we have simultaneously built up strong capabilities in the development and operation of high-efficient thermal power stations suited for several types of fuel such as coal, oil and biomass.
Energy Markets is the link between energy production and the market. It is therefore an important task for Energy Markets to ensure the balance between the energy supply made available by DONG Energy and the energy demanded by DONG Energy’s customers. Energy Markets buys, sells and distributes electricity
and natural gas on the North European energy markets. We trade electricity, natural gas, coal, oil as well as CO2 quotas and CO2 credits on the European energy exchanges.
Moreover we sell natural gas, electricity and related products to our wholesale customers in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Holland.
In addition, Energy Markets owns and operates parts of DONG Energy’s natural gas infrastructure and manages the portfolio of purchase agreements on natural gas to ensure the supply to DONG Energy’s customers
Sales & Distribution is DONG Energy’s link of the value chain towards the end-customers. Sales & Distribution sells and distributes electricity, natural gas and other related services. We ensure a reliable and efficient distribution of energy solutions to end-customers by operating and maintaining electricity and natural gas distribution networks, as well as a natural gas storage facility and a natural gas treatment plant in Denmark.
In addition, Sales & Distribution sells electricity, natural gas and related products to around one million end customers in Denmark, Sweden and Holland. Based on our comprehensive knowledge of energy and energy solutions, we offer advice on energy savings to our customers.
